Turchi 300F vs 260F: Which Self-Propelled Pile Driver to Choose

    Points clés

    • The 260F is the lightest machine in the range (~3,500 kg): the pick when you move between sites often and work standard ground with lower piles.
    • The 300F (4,500 kg, hammer up to 1,200 J, 180 bar) is the all-rounder for hard ground, tall piles and mixed operations.
    • Both are single-operator, self-propelled and reach 150+ piles a day; column tilt +10° / -51° for vertical driving on slopes.
    • Only the 300F reaches 6 m driving height and adds GPS verticality, mechanical extractor, core drill and down-the-hole tooling.

300F or 260F: the same question, every time

Anyone buying a TURCHI self-propelled hydraulic pile driver runs into the same question almost every time: 300F or 260F? They are two machines from the same family, both made in Italy since 1973, both built to drive piles fast for solar plants, guardrail and fencing. The difference is not "better or worse", it is power and versatility versus lightness and transportability. Here is how to choose based on the job.

What the 300F and 260F have in common

Before the differences, the similarities, because they explain why both models remain strong choices:

    • Self-propelled hydraulic pile driver: moves around the site under its own power, no support vehicle.
    • A single operator: centralised controls, up to 150 piles per day in the right conditions.
    • Column tilt +10° / -51°: vertical driving even on uneven and sloping ground.
    • Rubber tracks and a compact frame for working in tight spaces.
    • Indeco hydraulic hammer and CE certification with manual and technical datasheet.

In practice, the baseline productivity - piles per day, one operator, precision - is shared. What changes is everything around it.

    TURCHI 260F: the transportable lightweight

The 260F is the lightest machine in the range: operating weight around 3,500 kg, Yanmar engine, Indeco 950-joule hammer and 160-bar hydraulics, with a driving height up to roughly 3.5 metres.

It is the right choice when:

    • You move the machine often between different sites: it weighs less, loads and transports more easily, and that lowers logistics costs on work spread across a territory.
    • You work standard ground (sand, gravel, medium clay) where maximum impact energy is not needed.
    • The piles are not especially tall: solar plants and fencing with lower-profile structures.
    • You want the fastest payback on a machine that still produces over 150 piles a day.

    TURCHI 300F: the powerful all-rounder

The 300F is the reference machine when the site asks for more: operating weight 4,500 kg, Hyundai / Doosan 45 kW engine, Indeco hammer up to 1,200 joules and 180-bar hydraulics. Driving height reaches 4.4, 5.2 or 6 metres depending on the column extension.

It is the right choice when:

    • The ground is difficult: hard clay, compact soils, rock. With the down-the-hole (D.T.H.) pneumatic hammer mounted on the machine, the 300F pre-drills rock without calling in a second unit.
    • The piles are tall: industrial structures, raised solar arrays, agrivoltaics. The extension to 6 metres makes the difference.
    • You need maximum precision: the 300F integrates GPS and automatic verticality to hit the design point and cut rework.
    • You need more functions: the full accessory range - mechanical extractor to pull and replace piles, hydraulic core drill, pneumatic down-the-hole tool - turns the 300F into a single machine for several operations.

How to choose, in one sentence

If you change sites often and work standard ground with lower-profile piles, the 260F gives you the productivity you need with the smallest footprint and the lowest transport costs. If you face difficult ground, tall piles or mixed operations and want one machine that does it all with maximum precision, the 300F is the investment that pays back sooner.

The 260F. At around 3,500 kg it is the lightest machine in the range, so it loads and transports more easily and lowers logistics costs when work is spread across a territory. The 300F weighs 4,500 kg and is built for power rather than the lightest transport.

The 300F. With the down-the-hole (D.T.H.) pneumatic hammer mounted on the machine it pre-drills rock and compact soils without a second unit, and its 1,200-joule Indeco hammer and 180-bar hydraulics give the extra impact energy hard ground needs.
