TURCHI · Technology
The technology that drives 150+ piles per day.
Industrial diesel engine, hammer up to 1,200 J, semi-automatic GPS and rubber tracks for any ground. Here is how one operator closes jobs that used to need three people and an excavator.
HOW IT WORKS
From engine to pile: the energy cycle
A self-propelled hydraulic pile driver converts diesel power into pure impact energy. The engine feeds a high-pressure hydraulic power unit that drives the hammer. In short: diesel in, piles in the ground out.
The hammer strikes the pile head with up to 1,200 joules per blow—enough to get through compact clay, mixed ground and even layers with stone. Frequency and power are adjustable by the operator in real time.
Unlike manual tampers (limited to small posts) and vibrating systems (weak on hard ground), TURCHI hydraulic percussion works on any soil, without exception.

SELF-PROPELLED PILE DRIVER
One person, one machine, no impossible jobsite.
- Excavator + excavator operator + hammer operator required
- 60–80 piles per day
- Constant repositioning: you lose ~40% of time
- One operator handles everything: driving, positioning, driving piles
- Up to 150+ piles per day
- No repositioning: rubber tracks, it moves on its own
“Self-propelled” means autonomous. The machine moves on site on rubber tracks—mud, slopes, farmland, unprepared sites—without damaging surfaces and without excavators, cranes or other equipment. Time a traditional system wastes repositioning, a TURCHI spends driving the next pile.

HYDRAULIC SYSTEM
The hydraulic heart
Every component is sized to work in sync—the result is a machine that responds to the millimetre.
![[PHOTO: Side view of TURCHI pile driver with callouts on hydraulic components—power unit, valve block, cylinders, hammer]](/images/technology/turchi-sistema-idraulico.jpg)
Hydraulic power unit
Generates pressure up to 180 bar. Distributes power to all actuators with minimal losses.
Proportional valve block
Allows continuous speed and force control. The operator steers every movement with millimetre precision.
Tilt cylinders
Adjust column angle for vertical and inclined driving. Smooth hydraulic stroke without jolts.
Hydraulic percussion hammer
The component that does the work: up to 1,200 J per blow, adjustable frequency, designed for millions of cycles without major overhaul.
ENGINE
Diesel power: reliable, efficient, quiet enough
Every TURCHI pile driver uses latest-generation industrial diesel engines, chosen for the best balance of power, consumption and reliability: enough torque for difficult ground, quiet enough to work near residential areas.
POWER
30.9 kW (42 hp)
Strong torque at low rpm
CONSUMPTION
~8 L/h
Up to 10 hours on one tank
NOISE
82 dB(A)
Works in residential zones
EMISSIONS
Stage V compliant
Meets EU regulations

PRECISION
Every pile, exactly where it belongs.
Extendable column, adjustable tilt and semi-automatic GPS: three technologies that cut mistakes and rework.
Extendable column
Guides the pile down with millimetre precision. Modular extensions reach 6 m working depth, covering 95% of European applications—solar, foundations, fencing.
MAX DEPTH
6.0 m (with extensions)
Adjustable tilt
Column angle is set hydraulically for vertical and inclined driving. Essential for tracking solar layouts and containment on slopes.
TILT
Hydraulically adjustable
Semi-automatic GPS
The machine receives each pile coordinate from the digital layout and guides the operator to the exact spot. No misplaced piles, no rework, maximum speed.
PRECISION
Centimetre positioning
SAFETY
Built to protect people who work
Every TURCHI system is designed so the operator stays safe without giving up productivity.
Remote control
Operate from a safe position on the most complex drives.
CE marking
Compliant with Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. Individual test on every machine.
Safety sensors
Limit switches, high-pressure switches and relief valves on all hydraulic circuits.
Operator visibility
Control station designed for full 360° view of the work zone.
Controlled noise
82 dB(A): suitable for residential areas without acoustic restrictions.
Anti-vibration
Anti-vibration mounts on engine and operator station to reduce fatigue.
INDUSTRY 4.0
The machine that talks to your office
Latest-generation TURCHI pile drivers integrate remote monitoring that streams live operating data: GPS position, running hours, hammer cycles, temperatures and pressures, and maintenance alerts. Your technical office knows exactly where the machine is, what it is doing and when it will need service.
GPS location
Always know where your machines are, on which jobsite, in real time.
Operational telemetry
Engine hours, hammer cycles, temperatures and pressures monitored continuously.
Maintenance alerts
Automatic notifications before a component reaches wear limits.
Remote diagnostics
Our support team can diagnose without visiting the site.
COMPARISON
Hydraulic pile driver vs traditional methods
Not all driving systems are equal. Here is why self-propelled hydraulic percussion is what professionals choose.
| Feature | TURCHI pile driver | Excavator + hammer | Manual tamper |
|---|---|---|---|
| Piles/day | Up to 150+ | 60–80 | 15–20 |
| Operators needed | 1 | 2–3 | 2 |
| Max depth | 6.0 m | Depends on excavator | 1.5 m |
| Difficult soils | All (clay, stone, mixed) | Limited | Soft ground only |
| Setup time | 15 min | 30–60 min | 5 min |
| Transport | Standard trailer | Low-loader | Van |
| GPS precision | Yes (optional) | No | No |
Figures based on typical operating conditions. Actual productivity varies with soil, pile type and drive depth.
